It’s the personal stories that pass through our doors that bring us joy so often, and the embroidery upon a Christening gown, or wedding dress even, is always quite touching.
To pass down a Christening gown through the generations of a family is nothing new, nor is the embellishment of such a garment to mark each special occasion, but this doesn’t matter because being a part of such a longstanding tradition is always quite heartwarming.
In this instance, the Christening gown pictured has had the name of each child that has worn it embroidered onto the underskirt, and we at elaundry have played a part in that by embroidering some of those names and dates. We’ve even been asked if we can change a name already embroidered due to a divorce in the family!
In addition to this personalised embroidery service we have also been called upon to help recondition the Christening gown so as to be able to refresh it and remove any stains that have appeared over time. One particular area that required our attention was the bib of the dress, upon which years of dribble had left its marks, which we then of course did our best to remove.
